The capital of the ‘Beautiful Island’, Santa Cruz de La Palma is a beautiful and charming Colonial city, founded in 1493 under the name ‘Villa Apurón’. It is located in the eastern part of La Palma island, where the lava of an old volcanic crater used to flow, now known as the Caldereta. The city enjoys a comfortable climate year-round, despite trade winds causing the sky to be frequently overcast.

Its beautiful Old Town is home to palaces, Colonial houses, traditional Canary Island architecture and a plethora of churches.
