Built in the 9th Century, it is considered to be the world’s largest Medieval fortress, and is home to the Gothic Saint Vitus Cathedral and the Golden Lane, where the author of ‘The Metamorphosis’ lived for several years. The area next to the fortress is the neighbourhood of Malá Strana, filled with palaces, churches and squares that flourished in the care of the empire’s nobility.

Buses nº 119, 100 and 179 connect the airport with the Prague metro. There is a free express bus that connects with the main railway station in Prague. The AE (Airport Express) service covers the route from RW Station Holešovice – North Terminal 1 – North Terminal 2 - AP Ruzyně. There is also an inter-city service that connects Prague central station, the airport and various cities. In addition, a regular bus service runs to the city centre.
The airport offers passengers the following services: "rest and fun centre" for passenger relaxation and entertainment, pharmacy and veterinary surgeon, amongst many others.
