Lose yourself in its charming Old Town, home to Palma Cathedral, an architectural jewel dating back to the Middle Ages, which overlooks the bay and is beautifully illuminated at night. Right next door, you will find the Almudaina Royal Palace, a fortified, raised palace, built on the old Muslim fortress, and the Lonja, one of the island’s most beautiful buildings, where traders used to meet.
But a trip to Palma is not just about monuments. The city boasts many interesting museums and art galleries, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (also known as ‘Es Baluard’), which houses works by Cézanne, Gauguin, Picasso, Miró, Barceló and Schnabel, and the ‘Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation’, which exhibits graphic works by the Catalan painter.
Once out of the Old Town, head to the promenade and the wooded hill, upon which you will find the Castle of Bellver, built by James II of Majorca in the 14th century. This is one of the few circular castles in Europe, offering the best views of the city, the port and the Tramontana mountain rage.

The airport has one passenger terminal. It has two parallel runways for use in bad weather conditions and a third runway is under construction.
Access by road is via the Levante motorway and there are two bus routes: numbers 1 and 21, which stop at the city’s various hotels and points of interest for tourists. Taxi rank at the terminal, level 0, outside arrivals.
