The King Khalid International airport in Riyadh (RUH), Saudi Arabia is located in north of Riyadh, about 35 kilometres from the city centre .
King Khalid International Airport opened in 1983 and for over a decade was the largest airport in the world in terms of its surface area. It has four passenger terminals, only three of which are operational.
The three terminals in operation are internally connected by corridors with travelators that facilitate the movement of passengers.
There is no means of public transport linking the airport to Riyadh so the only means of connection are free shuttles to major hotels, taxi or hire car. Note that in Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to drive on public roads.
King Khalid International Airport includes shops, restaurants, hotels, banks, 24-hour medical services, mosque, etc. The existence of corridors with travelators and ramps facilitates the mobility of passengers in wheelchairs.
